We watch them surpass expectations, set world records, and jump euphorically while medals dangle from their neck.
But sometimes that narrative shifts. Sometimes we watch from the comfort of our couch and conclude, “they choked.”
As we watch these incredible humans who have dominated their sport for years, sometimes we are shocked to see them not perform at the level they usually do. We assume the answer is simple: they couldn’t handle the pressure.
But I don’t believe pressure alone explains what sometimes happens at the Olympics.
